New York City (NYC), often called simply New York, is the most populous city in the United States. It is located at the southern tip of the U.S. state of New York. New York City is composed of five boroughs, each of which is a county of the State of New York. The five boroughs - Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, the Bronx, and Staten Island - were consolidated into a single city in 1898.

The state's capital is Tallahassee and its most populous municipality is Jacksonville. The Miami metropolitan area, with a population of almost 6.2 million, is the most populous urban area in Florida and the seventh-most populous in the United States.
