FIFA World Cup 2022
The 2022 FIFA World Cup is scheduled to take place in Qatar from 21 November to 18 December 2022. This will be the first World Cup ever to be held in the Arab world.
This tournament will be the last to involve 32 teams, with an increase to 48 teams scheduled for the 2026 edition of this tournament. Here’s how the countries compare.
Group A
Group A contains Qatar (the hosts), Ecuador, Senegal and the Netherlands. Qatar is the tiniest country, followed by Netherlands while Ecuador and Senegal are much bigger.
Group B
Group B contains England, the USA, Iran and Wales. The US is the 4th largest country in the world - while Iran is smaller, England and Wales much smaller.
Group C
Group C contains Argentina, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Poland. Argentina is the largest, while Poland is the smallest.
Group D
Group D contains France, Denmark, Tunisia and Australia. Australia is the largest, while Denmark is the smallest.
Group E
Group E contains Spain, Germany, Japan and Costa Rica. Costa Rica is the smallest, while the other three countries are somewhat similar in size.
Group F
Group F contains Belgium, Canada, Morocco and Croatia. Belgium and Croatia are tiny countries, while Canada is the second largest country in the world.
Group G
Group G contains Brazil, Serbia, Switzerland and Cameroon. Brazil is the 5th largest country in the world, while Switzerland and Serbia are small countries.
Group H
Group G contains Portugal, Ghana, Uruguay and South Korea.
